It's been awhile since I last updated, and in the meantime I somehow got my claws on sleek new MBP. I decided to even be crazier though, and get one with a glossy screen. I know many artists scream and rant and rave over such a travesty. Imho however, it really makes no difference in colour quality and saturation. The blacks are blacker, and the lights are lighter. It also has a sharper more unforgiving nature, where a good matte will have a silkier feel and mask the image and smooth it a bit. Besides, if you actually took the time to get a colour calibrator the whole fight would be down the tubes. So far I've hooked the wacom up and have used painter X, and I'd like to say glare is never an issue (you can always tilt the screen a fourth of an inch if it is that bad, to totally get rid of any reflectivity). In going back and forth between my matte desktop and glossy laptop, painter X seemed to function equally as well, and none of the colours seemed to be off when compared side by side.
Anyway, thats all my humble opinion in an issue that often sparks off multi page flame wars on most forums.
(I gotta say though, I'm more or less in love my glossy, and am considering getting a glossy desktop monitor the next time I get or build a new rig.)
